The energy storage devices previously used in medical instruments and carrier systems often do not meet all the requirements of the device developer and are therefore not state of the art. Application-specific CUSTOMCELLS® energy storage solutions offer great benefits to patients and medical staff, especially in applications where the battery room is a challenge, such as prostheses with electronic motors, heart support systems, defibrillators and diagnostic instruments (e.g. wireless endoscopes). Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries provide security of supply and mobility for medical devices. Due to their low volume / weight, the battery cells can now be designed small and compact and guarantee low self-discharge rates as well as high cycle stability. In the development of application-specific battery cells, CUSTOMCELLS® focuses not only on key technical data such as voltage, capacity and installation space, but also on suitable cell characteristics.

CUSTOMCELLS® offers standard formulations for cell assembly - also for high-temperature applications. In addition, application-specific battery materials can be developed on customer request. The electrotechnical control and monitoring during operation and charging of the cells is already taken into account during the conception of the cells and declared as part of the project handling. During the development of the cells, CUSTOMCELLS® guarantees the safety of the lithium-ion battery cells by means of various mechanical tests as well as behavioral investigations (overcharge, short circuit, deep discharge). The special requirements for reliability and safety in the field of medical applications are thus fulfilled.
